TLB Training Details

The course is designed to train learners on how to inspect and operate a forklift according to the manufacturer’s specifications and worksite requirements. The course is accredited by CETA and learners receive a genuine and accredited forklift certificate and license after their training. The course includes 30% theory and 70% practical training and assessment.

TLB Training Requirements

The medium of communication during training is English. So it is assumed that the learner has basic understanding of english language. 

Students are required to come with their ID /PASSPORT during registration time.

Student are also required to come with two passport sized photos.

PPE, a student is required to have personal protective equipment for TLB training. PPEs can be obtained at our training centre or a learner may come with a pack.

The Tasks and duties of a tlb driver

  • In the TLB training, learners are tought how to driving trucks to and fro the destination site.
  • Pulling levers or turning cranks to tilt the body and lift the contents.
  • Inspecting the forklift from tyres, lights and brakes to fuel, oil and water.
  • Performing pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Keeping the forklift clean and in good working order.
  • Inspecting material to ensure it has been loaded correctly and securely.
  • Maintaining a driver log.

Duration of a tlb training

tlb training takes between 5-10 days of training.

 

A qualifying tlb driver is capable of;

  • Applying the recognised methods for inspecting and recording the operational fitness of all components of the lift truck with reference to safety procedures in the workplace.
  • Identifying and classifying freight/loads taking into account documentation, packaging and labelling associated with the specific freight.
  • Handling, loading and storing freight in accordance with industry standards environmental requirements, and with due consideration to inter alia the commodities and their properties, storage area and placement of load.

A qualifying tlb drivers are also capable of;

  • Demonstrating knowledge of the functions of a backhoe/loader.
  • Planning for work activities and prepare work area.
  • Starting and shutting down backhoe/loader.
  • Operating backhoe/loader.
  • Transporting backhoe/loader to and from site
